Tribal Influence

July 21, 2011 · 18 comments

Although some of my mother’s family is part of the Indian tribe Haliwa-Saponi, I did not grow up around the culture or Native American relatives, I do not identify much with the percentage that is in me, and I did not attend a pow wow until a few years ago. I have grown to admire it and have noticed, like everyone, that tribal prints and Native American inspired designs have become increasingly popular.
In this post are a couple photos I took at the pow wow in 2009, and a few of the many Indian-inspired clothing articles and accessories I have come across. By many I mean I seriously had to narrow it down – fashion is full of tribal prints and Native American symbols lately. I’ve been looking into this trend for quite a while.

  1. I love this trend, but I would probably look so awkward if I tried to pull it off. I don’t feel like it is really my style, but I am super obsessed with stalking pictures of bloggers who actually can wear it without looking like a fool. The bright colors are amazing!

  5. I love the tribal trend. It can be boho or different/rebellious looking. I actually did both styles one after another, lol. (:
